Gorgeous Solid American Black Walnut & Solid Maple
Circa 1825-1850
I restored this to full glory & museum quality, with meticulous attention to detail
The checkerboard style inlays which border the table I installed, the original inlays were in the same location but in very poor condition so I chose to replace them, notice how I achieved excellent joints everywhere on the inlays
I added some custom touches...the legs were reinforced with hardwood dowels from 2 sides...you can see the dowel with walnut wedge in the middle, the wedge provides incredible strength to the dowel/legs and also looks fantastic, it is a favorite technique of mine!
I showcased the gorgeous wood grain & character with many coats of hand rubbed & polished varnish imparting incredible beauty & depth to the walnut & maple. It is also highly water resistant
The finish is silky smooth & feels great when you rub your hands over it!
Of course this walnut which was harvested when 300 years old has lots of character such as knots, nicks, dings, pinholes that adds great character to the table
This is truly a customized one of a kind piece, I guarantee you will not find another one exactly like it on the planet!!
